HSBC and First Direct have teamed up with MoniLink, a joint service venture from Morse and the cash machine network LINK.

The application will allow users to query thier bank statements, as well as check pending balance enquiries. Next generation mobile bankers will be able to simpley download and install the application onto thier Java compatible cellular phones, and be mobile banking in minutes.

The new mobile software from HSBC and First Direct entails several security features the user will need to bypass to enter thier mobile banking statements. The user will be brought to a login page, not much differant then from a normal online banking service, and must be registered and authenticated before being able to login using thier id and passcode. Additionally if the mobile phone is lost or stolen, the application will be automatically locked, and deleted from any malicious user.

The new mobile banking app will be available to HSBC and First Direct customers later this year.
