EQO integrates Skype into mobile phones

eqoEQO communications has succesfully integrated Skype into many high-end motorola phones, and some Palm Treo devices.

EQO Mobile for Skype uses technology capable in J2ME-capable mobile phone handsets combined with a presence-enabled Voice-over-IP (VoIP) signaling network.

“We’ve built a platform and a solution that is both flexible and adaptable,” said Colin Quon, Founder and CTO of EQO. “This enables us to respond quickly to customer demand in expanding support for new and popular phone models as they hit the streets.”

Skype is a proprietary peer-to-peer Internet telephony (VoIP) network, and intant messanger client with currently 74 million registered users. EQO mobile for Skype allows users to send and recieve calls, as well as instant message with thier buddies. The product has been released as a beta for free to consumers, and can be downloaded from the EQO website.

    I have been using skype on my RZR with EQO, and I must say it is truely awesome. I never would have expected to see skype on mobile phones. I think EQO is a great company, and should be producing a lot more good things in the future!

    Totally Kent, EQO is rocking it right now… They just extended this to Apple OSX, so mac users can use this now too!
