The Nokia N95 GPS Multimedia Smartphone

Here is a phone that is jam packed with features, and does not come up short in high end standards. It has a dual slide, one for dialing and the other for controlling your media. I suppose the only thing it is missing is a QWERTY keypad, but I think it will manage without. The screen is a beautiful 2.6-inch TFT (QVGA) display with 16 Million colors fully capable of playing your favorite movies with a microSD card — 150 MB internal memory. The thing that sets this phone apart from most other multimedia platform phones is its GPS capabilities, and built in maps application that probably makes it a direct competitor for the iphone.
Additional Features of the Nokia N95:
- 5.0 Megapixel camera / Autofocus / Carl Zeiss optics
- Symbian OS 9.2
- EDGE / HSCSD / GRPS / Bluetooth 2.0 / Infrared Port / USB
- MMS / SMS / Email / Instant Messaging
- 30 fps VGA Video
- 802.11g WiFi / UPnP technolog
- MicroSD card slot
This phone is available in Europe for 550 euros ($700 USD) and from what I hear is doing quite well. If I had to predict where this phone would end up in the US market my first guess would be T-Mobile, or at least I am hoping since I really like T-Mobile’s data network that is very fair on my budget. Verizon I could see making great use of this phone as well with their Vcast service, and I think cingular will stay away as they will be releasing that precious iphone soon enough.
