Motorola Rizr Z6 Conventional Slider Phone
 3G , Cingular , Linux-OS , Motorola , music-phone

At CES 2007 Motorola CEO Ed Zander announced this phone and other “RIZR” models to be available in the first quarter of this year. What most people are talking about is the RIZR’s mobile OS, which is Linux based. This is the most noteworthy release of the OS, which has a decent UI and includes a music player. I think the design of the phone was based on the original RIZR Z3 that was announced last July. However I think the Z6 has a more promising overall package.
Additional Features of the Z6:
- 2.0 Megapixel Camera
- 320×240 TFT screen at 262k colors
- EDGE + Bluetooth 2.0
- microSD card slot + 64 MB internal memory
- Battery life at 7 hrs Talk time + 400 hrs standby
Overall a solid phone that consumers in the US will more than likely take to. Even as a Linux based phone, for what people use it for will be fully functional and even more capable than what some of the more typical UI’s are running on. And with the music player, which is becoming more of a standard in todays mobile world, will be something a lot of people have been craving from Moto. Expect a launch sometime within the next few months, more than likely this device will launch on Cingular. Would not be surprised if Verizon got their hands on it, but if they did I would beg them not to replace the OS or UI with whatever garb they currently use.

I have purchased this phone 3 days ago and so far its living up to its expectations. It has excellent reception I’ve had people think I’m using a land line. The battery well I can’t comment because of the lenght I’ve owned it. Overall it’s the best bet out there.
