While consumers are left wondering if they should be wearing chainmail before handling today’s high-end handsets. Beware of the extremely sharp Sanyo 6600, more recently known as the Sanyo Katana (Japanese long sword) that is attempting to compete with Moto’s RAZR sales this quarter. While the Katana shares similar style-isms that pay homage to other thin flip-phones, it maintains a remarkably unique design of it’s own. Sprint is packaging the phones in 4 colors; Polar White, Sapphire Blue, Cherry Blossom Pink, Mystic black (basically all the colors the RAZR is available in.)
Now I wouldn’t necessarily label the Sanyo Katana a RAZR knockoff. I would say however it is trying too hard to compete with a model that has established itself as being unique. Rather than perhaps coming up with a more innovative approch, but Sprint customers can now imitate their competitors counter-parts with a very sharp, sleek, and thin flip-phone. The Sanyo Katana will be released by Sprint July 10th, on a 2-year service plan you can sign yourself up with the Katana for $129.99 USD.
